Welp, the season begins in 10 days. The plan was to head north to hunt mule deer with my father-in-law for the week. I had some spots scoped out, and some ideas of what I wanted to do. And more importantly, I had access to my FIL to guide me in processing a deer, should I manage to shoot one. Plans have changed. I am needed at home at that time, so no trip north for me.
Fortunately I will still get to hunt closer to home for day trips much of the week. Problem is, I haven't scouted much of anything here, and most of where I am able to go is a couple hours away. Don't tell my boss, but I fully expect my productivity to drop in the next week as I scour OnX for likely places to spend a day in SE Washington, and to watch and rewatch deer processing videos.
It'll be exciting and nerve wracking to go at this solo, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to jumping into the deep end.
