Does anyone out theree shoot a rifle chambered to this round? I just bought one and am just getting it up and running. Any load suggestions?

Thank you. I a have been shooting a 6.5-284 a bunch lately and really like the round. this one is looking like it will be more accurate and a lot of fun as well.

You'll probably like that 6-284. I have one, it is the second one I've owned in my lifetime, and I don't intend to be without one again.

Mine is a 1-10 twist 27" Lilja barrel on an AMT action.

As far as loads go, I've always had good luck with either 4350 or 4831, but the best loads I've found are with VV550 and VV560 powder with the 70gr to 87gr bullets. With the 70-75gr bullets try around 48gr of 550 and try working up from there, and with the VV560 and 70gr bullets start around 53-54gr and I've been able to work safely up to 57.8gr. I use Norma 6.5-284 cases and CCI BR primers. For some reason the brand of primers used will make or break a given load in mine.

For varmint hunting the 75gr Vmax is my pick of the litter, and for paper punching it likes the 70gr Sierra Match kings.

For more information on loading check out www.accuratereloading.com select "Reloading Pages" then scroll down to the 6-284. Good luck and hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. WD
