The red is where it ended up. Last shot was jumping across that dry waterfall. Thankfully he was right on the edge of it because at the angle I was at I could only see a little window.
Not even sure how to put it into words. I had quite a few guides call and mail info and also attended an orientation that wasn't required for this hunt but more info can't hurt. Side story after I left the orientation I drove to Montana/Idaho for work and had a young coug walk right up to me in...
First one and most likely last but hopefully someday I can join someone on their hunt and I’d be happy just the same. Just watching them every day was an experience.
John Day River Oregon. Literally a once in a lifetime tag. Can't say it was my target ram since another group decided to act like it was general deer season and run straight up the hill and start shooting at the ram I had picked out. Despite being told by someone on the river that we were set up...
5 min in the first video there and my wife heard the moving to Montana story she’s staring me down. She is all for moving to Montana if the right forestry job ever pops up. I’d be like a kid in a candy store.
Thanks for the info. I know it’s a long shot to get down there and my friend doesn’t even hunt that is moving there even though he grew up on a few thousand acres but to each his own. I’m no stranger to the backcountry and would love nothing more than to explore. Love eating rattlers so that...
Thanks for the info. I'll look into NM. I'm no stranger to backcountry and putting on some miles so I'll have to see if there are any OTC archery elk hunts nearby.
I hunt a lot and have always wanted to venture a little further East than the Pac NW. Well my best bud and his family are moving to El Paso and naturally it didn't take long for the lightbulb to click on. Anybody have info on hunting near El Paso? Any species, any weapon, public or private it...
Took a neighbor out and got him his first elk ever after years of hunting 100 yrds from camp. Always fun to see that level of excitement and the only thing funner is when it’s a kid which I have coming up in the next few weeks. Someday I’ll actually hunt for myself.
Anybody ready for action this Saturday? I held off the excitement and told myself I’d play it cool to start now I’m camping out the first two weekends and then some with a few different folks and will hopefully get a few junior hunters on their first archery Bull.
Yes, yes it is. I have taken college athletes out to work and they decided woods work was just not for them. Amazing to see people that work out everyday not be able to hack it yet I've worked for decades with guys that have big ol beer bellies and power through the nastiest huck/salmon...
Not the best camera in the world but nice seeing the variety of critters roaming around during the summer. Anybody use cell cameras? Have been thinking of trying a stealth cam fusion for spring/summer alerts on what’s nearby.
I’m sure there’s plenty but how many backpackers outside of hunting season we got out there in Oregon or Nor Cal or really anywhere. I usually do a few trips a year but curious if there’s any in OR or CA that have some favorite trails. I prefer the Trinity Alps in NorCal but can’t wait to hit...
