I don't disagree about the splendid game diversity of this state, and have never encountered a Anti hunting DFW employee. The problem lies within the appointed commissioners that make the Rules for everyone. Look at the poor guy that had to step down because he went on a legal mountain lion hunt...

With all due respect I'm just confused because you're the only hunter I've ever talked to that doesn't think CA is going in the wrong direction, maybe I'm just reading you wrong but your response is just very atypical. As far as my employment I'm payed by large water sales to users south of the...

    California Deer

They do aerial surveys, there was actually a helicopter crash that killed a crew that was doing just that a few years backs.

    California Deer

I volunteer every year for DFW to do spotlight surveys and this is just for Little dry creek and Howard slough wildlife rufuges, I would imagine they do it throughout the state as well.

    2016 Southern California Blacktail (A-Zone)

Nice bucks, I bet it's hot during the archery season, up here in B zone it gets ridiculously hot, it's all about that shade.

NOSLER wants to see your success

CA OTC public land Blacktail Taken with Hand loaded 7mm-08 with 120grain Ballistic Tip with nosler brass. Sorry for the lung butter but those bullets vaporize lung tissue. Took a Doe antelope in WY less than a week latter with same load. I get about .5 MOA accuracy out of my stock rifle with them.

    Hunting on the cheap

Don't hunt out of state, and I would hunt mule deer, that way if you don't get drawn for elk you got a better chance of being able to hunt every year. I'm not from Utah but it looks like there are some deer hunts that have 100 percent draw odds.

Randy Newberg, Hunter wants your ideas for future videos

I would love to see a wilderness hunt in Northern California for Blacktail's. Some say they're the most difficult deer to hunt, I would like to see how a back country pro like Randy and his crew tackle it. The only Blacktail hunts I've seen in California on TV have been on private property which...

Wow, I'm glad you hold our state in such high regard, I just have one question. How long have you been hunting?

Haha yeah some guys get really persnickety if someone calls their Blacktail a "benchleg" personally I would suspect the central coast deer are more of a pure Blacktail. The genetic waters are pretty muddy in a lot of places. I measure my success in lbs of meat not inches of bone, so I never...

Greetings from CA's better half, NorCal that is

I live really close to the recognized boundary for Blacktail which is I-5 and I hunt Blacktails in the western part of CA, hybrids or what some call "benchlegs" in the cascades, and mule deer just east of the Sierras, all on public land. I couldn't imagine not having all this public land to hunt...
