After a fairly successful season of getting both my bull elk and nice mule deer in Colorado, I want to go south and try out the new rifle on an Aoudad. Does anyone know how to access the season dates or have a good starting point when it comes to hunting these guys. I can return the favor by...
Timing is everything with these birds... If the toms are henned up you are going to have to spot them and move in or in front. If you hit just before or after hen up you will lure birds easier but don't be afraid to be aggressive if all else fails. Get a box call and use it, I have sucked many...
Thanks Harley...6.4lbs Not too bad. From what I understand that action can withstand anything a 7mm-08 has to throw at it. I think we all know its about placement.
Wood and Blue makes no sense in the snow and rocks.... I want to use my gun not look at it. $1000 worth or wood is worth about 10 bucks if you drop it.
I'm looking at the practical aspect of having composite/ stainless and lighter for high country hunts. That is for sure a pretty gun but I wouldn't want to lug it up the mountain in the rain and snow.
I recently came across a Wild West Custom Anchorage Savage 99 in 7mm-08. It is stainless with composite stock and a fluted barrel. Does anyone out there know what something like this is worth-ish , and do you know what kind of trigger WWC usually puts on their custom guns? Thanks. Hopefully...
May- the birds are a little more desperate and might have a chance to finda hot mature bird. April finds many of the big boys packing a pile of hens. Be aggressive with those birds for best results. Happy hunting.
Unfortunately, I think we all know "that guy" that gives all trappers a bad name. The only way to keep this in check is to self regulate and if we see things happening in the field that are not right, bring it to light so it can be resolved.
Were they afraid of the deer, seriously thats your only answer, shoot your gun into the air??? How about hit the damn thing with a rock or one of the thousand chunks of wood laying around. Damn City folk!!
