A buddy of mine, while out hunting, once found a rifle leaning up against a tree. the stock was dried and cracked and the barrel was rusted bad. It makes you wonder...how do you walk away from your rifle? I guess i have walked away from walking sticks when i stopped for a break but your rifle....?- elknut

I talked to a biologist regarding the guys caught on the Blackfoot. This has been going on for years but up until last year the penalties were light. aging elk
I am always curious about the age of an animal I harvest, particularly an elk. Can you guess the age of this bull by these ivories? I know that to accurately age an animal you need to cross section the canines and count the rings, which I am doing but this is a quick way to get a rough age... -

a couple of good reasons for looking...
They are very real, md.... my buddy found them very close together...one was in the open and the other was in a clump of fir trees...the one in the trees was chewed on, of course, but only a few of the tips. He fixed them up and it is quite hard to tell they were chewed...he is officially my...- elknut

The Montana Slaughter
His right side scored 161"......spread 42". He grosses 340-ish with over 6" missing from his 5th and 14" from his 4th!! He is too big to leave like that. I will be repairing those points for sure and doing a sweeping left turn shoulder mount. -
