Nosler AB LR 168gr bullets in a 280AI
Yeah, it pretty much just holed through. 115gr Ballistic Tips from my 257Roberts did more internal damage at a further distance.- std7mag

I have the single shot, brass in 45-70. I was kinda bummed with Henry about it being a break open action, instead of a falling block like a Ruger #1. Sights are kinda hard for my old eyes to see. Thinking of putting a red dot on it. Shooting Federal ammo right now. 325gr(?). It's... -

Need some input on these scopes.
I got the Ziess V4 you mentioned. The zero stop was a bit of a PITA to set. But once set, has worked well. Glass is good, as you'd expect from Ziess. I got the 93(?) MOA reticle. Euro Optics had it on sale when I got mine. $699. -

That's the problem. It didn't mushroom. Bullet sized hole going in, bullet sized hole going out. Luckily, shock & hole in vital area brought it down. The ABLR are supposed to mushroom starting at 1,300fps. So a hit at 3,000fps should have opened up nicely. But no.- std7mag

Seized Cylinder on Revolver
My friend (he's done black powder all his life) uses hot (boiling) water and vinegar to break through the nasty from an uncleaned revolver. He's gotten several to shooting condition using this.- std7mag

50 or 45 caliber inline?
Well, i ended up getting a Traditions (can't recall the model) in 45. Put an EGW base on it with a 3-9X40 Crimson Trace Hardline scope. Interestingly enough, Traditions says NOT to use patched round ball or Minnie ball in it. Sabot only. I have an order in with Cutting Edge Bullets for...- std7mag

Ready for a new 7 mag load
I'd tend to agree with 300stw. Vihtavouri N550, N565, N570, IMR7828, Retumbo, H1000 would do you better than IMR4350. The 4831 would be close to RL19 burn wise. Not the highest velocity, but decent accuracy. RL23 and RL26 are good for the bullet weight, but finding any is hard to say the...- std7mag
