Townsend, Montana

[Summitthunting]

Has anyone hunted deer around Townsend, Montana? I'm thinking of taking my nephew from Bozeman up there next week. I'm not asking for your secret spot, just a general opinion of the area.

There should be a bunch of whitetails up there. I believe to the W. of Townsend muley hunting is on a draw in the Elkhorns. There is a bunch of mule deer to the east, more towards Toston, but its mostly private. That is about all I know.

If it is for mule deer, make sure he has one of the permits, as many of those units are limited entry draw for mule deer (unlimited tags, but you must apply for the tag in the June draw). Good luck.
