Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Need recommendations for a new 3 person, 3 season, backpacking tent

I'd never heard of Luxe before. They actually make some pretty decent options, <5lbs for a 2.5 person tipi, at around $450

I'm pretty new to the tipi game, so Im no expert but like I said I am pretty impressed so far with the company and their products.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Ultamid

Pros: 4p tent, dry as a bone, very spacious, wonderfully light
Caveats: have to be okay with the trekking pole setup and pyramid tents, which can take some time getting used to
Cons: expensive, can be difficult to setup in the wind

That first con is what I'm looking at. $1,000 is a lot for a backpack tent. But I have heard nothing be great things about the actual tents...

If you are okay with a trekking pole tent might want to check out tarptent, the stratospire 2 is an oversize 2 person close to a standard 3. Tarptent has some interesting tents and they are built in the USA.
