I’ve been trying to learn more about mushrooms to gather to eat. My wife got me a small booklet with all the different North American mushrooms edible and not edible. I was scouting for whitetail last weekend when I found this. There were 2 large clumps. They are on a downed hardwood tree. I wasn’t sure so I left them there but I dropped a pin on it. Every pictures online looks a little different then the one before. I’m hoping someone has some better knowledge then I do. Yes.
I soak them in cold water for an hour to get the bugs out, slice into 1/2” strips, then cook in a hot pan with salt and butter.
