Another high-tech method to stay in touch. I'll be watching for release of this one for sure. They say it will be available later this year. Have any of you seen more information about the Iridium GO! unit?

I rented a satellite phone for hunting last year, and it was good to have that connection to home - especially for my wife's peace of mind. The tech specs don't include its weight, but 4.5"x 3.25" x 1.25" is smaller than the satphone I rented.

Powered by the world's furthest reaching network, this compact, rugged and portable unit creates the first ever reliable global connection for voice and data communications on up to 5 smartphones, laptops or tablets.

Iridium GO! supports a full range of global communications, including:
  • Voice calls
  • Email access
  • Applications
  • Social networking
  • Photo sharing
  • SMS two-way
  • GPS tracking
  • SOS alert

Has anyone used this product yet? I am curious to see how it does? A lot cheaper than buying a sat phone and I can use my existing phone. Sounds interesting.

Thought I would give this a try....Has anyone tried the iridium GO?

or is there a better way to email via sat?

Taking "email" literally and at face value, you can't do that with an InReach.
