I know this is short notice. My kid brother bailed out of our annual Ohio archery trip and left me high and dry. I will still go by myself. I've done it before. I was thinking screw it I might as well do something different. I know I'm way behind the eight ball. Does anybody know of a decent left over tag unit in CO? I'm fit so hiking in no big deal. Prefer DIG and was thinking second or third rifle. Also if anybody wants to go with let me know. I'll be traveling from NH. I know this would be a lot to put together but any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If you are thinking of a rifle hunt, there are a lot of decent OTC units in CO for the second and third season rifle hunts. I would go to this page and see the harvest stats and plan from there.

Then, I would go to this list and see if the unit you have in mind is on the OTC list.

From that, you pretty much know what units are OTC and what the success rates are in each unit. That makes it a lot easier to decide where to go. Tons of public land in all the OTC units, so access is not the issue. Since you are in good shape, you have a huge leg up on the deal and should be able to encounter some elk.

Good luck.
