Went out to a farm pond and was having no luck until I switched to a black nymph fly. On the first cast they started hitting. After about 15 casts I had these crappie. I left cause I kinda felt guilty taking so many and it was so easy. Better to leave some for next time.

Kind of ashamed to put these after Buzz's halibut post.

Where I lived as a kid we caught those all the time, man that was one of the best eating fish out there. Now I can't even remember the last crappie I caught.:(

Love those crappies. Used to catch them all the time growing up in Oregon and Idaho by the hundreds. Never that big tho. Now when i visit we go to Brownlee or Owyhee Res. Brownlee really has some nice ones now, 12" isn't uncommon there. Great eating and fun for the kids to catch as well.
