Two weeks ago I was in eastern MT with Upper Deck trying to help him fill his MT archery antelope tag. This was the coldest weather I have ever been antelope hunting in! We had a few close calls and more than one goat narrowly escaped an arrow! I enjoy hunting by myself most of the time. With that said, Upper Deck is in great shape (runs triathlons), a great hunter and is always in a positive mood. He is one of those guys you always hunt with when the opportunity arises. He is a good cook to boot. The fresh salmon from AK was great.

No goat, but a bonus badger. He will have to post the pics!

This last weekend I was in the Badlands scouting a new area and then moved over to my old stomping grounds. I walked away from a few nice bucks this weekend. One in particular had an odd antler configuration which was really cool. He was obviously depressed and thinking of ending his life as he bedded in a suicide position. I promised Big Fin I wouldn't shoot a mulie until he gets here after Thanksgiving, unless it's a bruiser. I have been intentionally staying away so I am not tempted and am going into withdrawls! Starting in November I will be out there every weekend trying to pin down a couple of good ones.

Does anyone know what kind of snake is in the last picture? I think it's a green racer, but don't know. It was pretty chilly and I was surprised to see any snakes out yet.

Cool country and nice pics, Buschy. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure, but I think the snake is a western yellow-bellied racer.

The name of that snake is.............. "AAAAAAAAAAAHHH...... oh it's not a rattler" They live in many places.

Nice to see some pics of that country.

Like Buschy said it was the coldest I've been in a while with lows in the morning around 15 and the first night the wind was blowing hard. Thankfully a land owner in the Block program let us set up the tent behind an old barn to try help block the wind. We only had a short time but we chased a few goats and a couple just flat out got lucky, they got hungry and moved before we could cover the 2 mile we needed to. But all in all it was a good weekend capped off with a Badger.

The highlight wasn't getting a Badger it was having Buschy stick his hand in the hole to pull it out. Wish I woudl have had the camera ready!!!:D

nice pictures! Those Badgers are entertainment any time I come across one

Awesome pictures.
Gotta admit I'm pretty excited about the OYOA episode with you guys hunting mule deer.

After Thanksgiving! I would have been shooting at the time you took pictures! Man that's some really awsome country. I'll have to try to make it out there someday.

Camp looks fun, the salmon great but the weather looks pretty damn cold...lol!...great pics and story...thanks for sharing. Good luck next time you are out!

The condensation was not bad thanks to Buschy spending the little extra money to get the mesh condensation liner in the tent that kept you dry. He had a different tent without it and you always woke up wet from the condensation. Well worth the extra money
