    Collective wisdom about hunting NM

Sorry for the late reply. There is not really a straight forward answer for this. My total (not counting wife and kids) I believe is around $380 (Fish, hunt, OTC tags and special hunt applications) every year. If you draw a multi season deer/elk tag is $140/$180 to $333 for a sheep/goat/moose...

    Wayne LaPierre Resigned

We have over 300 million people in the US. It amazes me the leaders we chose. Larry the cable guy, Hank Jr, the guy I know from the gun range. I feel like I could easily find better fit for most of our CEO's and politicians.

    Collective wisdom about hunting NM

Forgive my continued rant, but what really gets me is that WA seems to be killing the golden goose. I am a First Hunt foundation volunteer. It hurts me that I can't help all those that reach out to me, chiefly because I do not have enough access to land to take new hunters. Who is going to have...

    Collective wisdom about hunting NM

Thank you, very insightful post! It seems impossible to draw a decent tag in WA. For the money I spend putting in for tags I never draw, to a state that treats its hunters with animosity, I can simply travel out of state. So that is what I started to do. I don’t have a bunch of land, don’t know...

    Collective wisdom about hunting NM

So, looking for some collective wisdom about New Mexico. It is my impression that there is plenty of public land and good hunting in New Mexico. Is it easy to draw decent tags or fair OTC hunting available as a resident? What is it actually like on the ground there? Plenty of space on public...

    Antelope...Lets See Them!!!

Thanks for the inspiration! sitting here trying to plan out my (and now my boys) next few seasons. I don't know what it is about pronghorn, but I can never get enough and especially love to take new hunters. Just need to figure out a way to draw more often.

I hate mice..... I mean I want to kill every last one of them

I was visiting my in laws a few years back and discovered they had a mice problem. I put out several different methods, on top of a major clean up (food).Glue, water barrel, regular and live traps. Caught a ton. I also put up the electronic ones. I don't know the brand that I used, but it really...

    Ouch - *graphic*

Hope your healing up nicely. It definitely could have been a lot worse. Good reminder that even trying to stay vigilant things happen and we should all be prepared to render first aid!

    Hello from Western - WA

I have enjoyed this forum for a while now and figured it was about time I joined a group of likeminded individuals. I prefer DIY hunts on public land so I am really not sure why it took me so long.

What lever gun are you thinking? (Bear mainly / possibly other big game)

I would really like to get my hands on one of those Henry Long Ranger .308's. I am partial to my bolt guns, but could see that long ranger getting some use. I like the idea that either right or left handed child of mine could pick it up and use it too.

What was your first big game rifle, and do you still have it?

Winchester 670 in .30-06! K-Mart version of the M70, bought used when I was young. Didn't really appreciate it then, but over the years I have cleaned it up and it has really grown on me. Would never give it up.

    3” semi auto 12ga recommendations

I will repeat what was previously said about fit! On paper my Beretta A391 is my perfect shotgun, but especially with the kickoff the LOP is entirely too long for me and I shoot like crap with it. One of the models I have been eyeballing is the Savage Renegauge. That is close to your budget and...

    Benchmade knives?

I will echo what has been said. I forget the models (& steel types) I have but I find they rarely dull and touch up quickly for me. Not sure you can go wrong with a manufacturer like Benchmade.
