    Turkey/sharptail advice

I see turkeys on private land in MT. The landowners say they don't like them, yet they don't allow non family members to hunt turkeys on their land. If you get more hunting locations then you can hunt, send me a PM.

What's your set up this year ?

Spring hunt with the same 870 for the last 30 years with #5 shot in 2-3/4" shells - turkeys don't wear Kevlar where I hunt.

Arizona. They had an unusual snow the second week of January with low temperatures this year. Glad I had my wool cover.

    Montezuma/Mearns quail

After wanting to hunt these quail the last couple of years, I went this year and found a few. Found them without a dog. Once I located their habitat, finding them was not too difficult. The road trip there and back was excellent, no snow on the roads either way.

    Montana 700s

I have hunted 700 for many years. I saw a nice average buck the first day. Did not see antelope many places where we normally see them. The bands we saw were small compared to years past, when we would see 12+ in a band. We were seeing bands of 6-9 does without bucks. On the fourth day I decided...

    Oregon Coastal Blacktail

Is that a normal size for the blacktails on the coast? I didn't know they could get so heavy.

    Nice Mass!

That is a nice one. Thanks for showing it. A blacktail has been on my list too long. Seeing yours, makes me want to try harder.

    Gunbroker and bank account information

I sold 5 guns on GB. I gave them my bank account so they could deposit 0.02 cents into it to see if I was legit. They removed the 0.02 cents later to verify I was legit. They asked for my CC info, which is where they took their fees out of the guns sold. One person was a non-paying bidder, and...

    Eyes of the Beholder

I found my deer mount at a 2nd hand store that my X sold at her yard sale. The owner asked if I could prove it was mine. I brought photos of me holding it in the field along with photos of the plaques I had in the garage that matched the buck's plaque perfectly. He said I could have it back for...

    Winchester 1886 50-100-450

Thanks for letting us see that rare and awesome condition rifle. Amazing that it is in excellent condition after so many years. I have a Winchester Model 71, which I believe the .348 Win case was designed from the 50-100.

    Lever Action for Pronghorn

In the 1980's and 1990's there were many more antelope on the eastern plains of MT. I shot quite a few under 100yards then. Since the winter of 2008, the numbers have been getting less every year and their range is getting smaller. Now I see more hunters and less antelope in the areas I hunt. I...

Yes, I meant to say western OK. Near Boise City.

    Coues or Mule deer

I think you've answered your own question. For me, the muley would have to be very big in order to pass on a Coues. I have always lived in mule deer country, and have taken many 4x4 bucks. The 2nd biggest muley I have ever taken was in eastern OK, go figure.

DOGS - A Book Chapter Narration from p. 56 of "Dove Hunting" by Charley Dickey, 1976

Dove hunting in Mexico, a lady cooked our doves. Her technique was; removing the breast off the bone, marinating them in lime juice, then putting a rub of her herbs and seasonings on them, then cooking them over an open fire of mesquite wood. I think the lime juice and marinating is the key for...
