    Rimfire Rifle Recommendations

I’m thinking this should be on my short list.

    Rimfire Rifle Recommendations

As I sit here on my deck watching a squirrel laying in the bird feeder gorging himself. Hard to not have immoral thoughts.

    Rimfire Rifle Recommendations

Kinda where I’m at. It’s just perfect for plinking. No ear pro, the extra weight makes the barrel hang.

    Rimfire Rifle Recommendations

Im wanting to get a good .22 . It’ll see use as 90% range toy/trainer, 10% squirrel rifle. I’ve got a can I’d like to put on it. I’m drawn to the Tikka, I shoot a T3 and like the idea of the two being quite similar. The Bergara looks very interesting, as does the CZ.

Season prep has gone to the extreme

Monday is hip replacement day. It been coming for a few years now, last fall I could barely get off the trail without pain. First surgical procedure in 55 years, just a bit apprehensive. Nurses have assured me it’s little more than having my toenails done. Can’t decide how bad I want to ride a...

    Wool hunting clothing

They seem to much more budget friendly as well. I thought I’d hit the hunter lottery when I found a rack at Fleet Farm. My size was already gone never to be restocked.

Tell me about your obscure cartridge

It is for me. A man should have a 1911, I wanted a 10mm (for Grizzly attack :ROFLMAO:).

Tell me about your obscure cartridge

Where should I start I have what I’d consider a non-mainstream collection obscure is too far a step maybe. To start, .327Fed which led to 32H&R, and the .32S&W Long. Next .41Rem, sold the host pistol, but I’m sitting on about 300 reloads and plenty of fodder for more. Just keep my eyes open...

    Wool hunting clothing

I guess I’ve gone down both roads. Kuiu, for my western ventures as well as spring/early fall here in MN. By the time deer season and ice fishing seasons come around the wool starts making sense. It’s heavy, and wind can penetrate, that permeability though keeps the sweat moving out away from...

New half ton truck, what is your thoughts??

Saved me a bunch of typing. Ive owned both Coyote and Ecoboost. Both are powerful, ecoboost gives a bigblock vibe. Coyote has a hotrod vibe, and I think an edge in reliability.

    First truck and current truck.

First, hmm, ‘73 (?) International Scout II. It was as rank as you would expect, fuel fill pipe rusted off at the cap for example. Neither it nor I cared about how it was treated, man that’s liberating in a hunting rig. 36 years of other sport utes followed, had company trucks at my disposal and...

The January Topic: KUIU vs Sitka!

I could be a Kuiu slut I guess. The thing is I have the sizing figured out, as well as how they are meant to work together. Customer support has been very helpful. More than once I’ve been reimbursed for items that have gone on sale shortly after buying at full price.

10+ Years of Use, What Worked

Surefire 6P flashlight w/ LED upgrade. Polar tec power pro (waffles) base layers. Platypus gravity water filter system has been good in a multi hunter camp.

    BS hunting pants sizes

Married a girl with sewing skills. Sure it’s $2500 a year in fabrics, but if I need something mended, I’ve got access to her machines.

    Help getting boots to dry

Sounds like sole and liners are laminated together and moisture has gotten between them. The desiccant bags are a good bet. Put them out in the sun for a few days to warm up too. Id get them dried out, and send them down the road. Mold, mildew, foot funk, all growing down there? Add sweat, and...

Swift A frame vs Nosler Partition

Word. Took my most likely only Elk hunt 16 years ago. Have gone back 12 more times. You need to find a core of 3-4 guys that are ate up with it. Fall in with them, with any luck they are the arm twisting sort. If they are tight with a buck even better!

300 Win Mag ammo for elk.

I’ve had good results with both Accubond and Partitions in 180g from my Tikka. It’ll throw 200g Partitions just as well. If you like collecting bullets go Accubond if you gotta have complete penetration Partitions are more likely to pass through. Try the loads that are common on local shelves...

    7MM-08 for youth

I picked up a Ruger Hawkeye Compact for The Junior. He’s danged small and might never outgrow it 😉. 16” stainless barrel laminate stock that adds weight. I’ve put together some 120 NPT loads with a modest amount of Staball. Have loads from 2450 to 2750 ish. Being Shrek sized I’m having a heck of...
