Does anyone know any good areas for northern region spring limited turkey? I drew the tag and want to broaden my options to more than just hunting the bountiful bench. Not asking any specifics. Thanks!
I’m sorry, for the exaggerated miles guys. Haha it won’t be ten miles. (That’s for damn sure) It will be probably 4 tops to get back to the vehicle. I should’ve fixed that a while ago. My mistake. I factored in the distances with On X to see what I was really going to be hiking. Regardless, I...
JLS.. I’ve been in your shoes man. I just started hunting a few years back. (Not intending that you are a rookie or anything) I drove up to a ridge and hiked down off a steep face where I had been glassing up some muley does. Ended up shooting a forkie. It was my first buck so I was content with...
I just want to see who is had success this year so far on the south slope. My hunt is coming up and I wanted to see how the bow hunters did in that unit. If you, or someone you know had success on the south slope I just want to hear the story! Don’t give me locations, south slope is a decent...
Good to know. I am hunting rifle season. I have his season info written in my notebook. (Pre-rut, mid-rut, post-rut, etc.) Now if you are on horseback, are they required to stay on the trails? Do they have to hitch up to travel into drainages on foot maybe?
Hell ya. Can’t wait to get into archery man. But that is good to know for sure. I shot my first deer above Farmington 2 years ago. Steep country. Thanks again for the info.
Thank you. Since you said that you hunted the Wasatch front, have you ever hunted above bountiful? And if so did you ever hear or see elk? I know that there are some big deer in there. But I’ve heard both ways on elk. Yes there is, and no there isn’t any elk there.
Didn’t think about bringing a freezer or generator but if I can find the way to do it with a Jeep that’s not a bad idea. We will be pulling the back seat out and getting a hitch rack. Thanks for the info man
I am doing my first rifle elk hunt in the uinta range in Utah this year. I will be packing in. My plan is to bring a large Coleman cooler, possibly two, and leave them in the jeep at the trailhead 10 plus miles away. Here are some questions I have.
1. How much cooler space do you need for a...
Thanks for the comment. That brings up a good point. Is it usually true that on a clear morning with no weather systems the thermal winds would move down a mountain side? And then change in late morning when it starts to heat up? Based on your experience is this something that you see?
