Best time to scout for elk?
I drew a NR Wyoming General Tag and plan to make a 5 day trip to scout some areas. Will hunt opener for a few days and than 10 days near end of September. Few of my questions: Better to go scouting mid-August or July? Should my primary focus be trying to locate cow/calf groups? Plan to... -

Going on first archery elk hunt and wonder if I need to change my current quiver to something else. See a lot of Tightspot talk and wonder if I need to be concerned with my current Mathews set-up. Any advantage to changing? -

Hub Shack for base camp?
NR first Wyoming elk hunt and thinking we will day hunt from base camp and thinking of using our hub shacks for tent set-up. Has anyone used their hubs in place of tents for camping? Is this a throw away idea? -

Getting weather reports in Wyoming during hunt.
Drew a elk tag as NR and looking for best way to obtain weather reports in back country. How is cell service in areas and is there better option? Looking at southern and western general units at this time. -

New to site form South Dakota.
Have been a follower for some time and am really grateful for all the information available to new hunters. Have been on a couple of rifle hunts for elk and am really looking forward to archery hunting one soon. Getting a late start in life on elk hunting but feel it is now or never.
