    Best Colorado rifle season

That's awesome! I was hoping they'd still be bugling and I assume it's pressure related how much they do. Here in Pennsylvania, they bugle strong until mid October...it takes several lifetimes to get a tag though.

    Best Colorado rifle season

I was reading up on the new season structure too and 3rd season seems to be more appealing as otc to me because of an increased chance of snow. I hunted 2016 and 2018 and we saw daytime temps in the 60's at 10k feet. Though I'm still leaning towards 1st season with the chance of catching some...

    Best Colorado rifle season

I've hunted 2nd season twice and only saw cows. It was tough hunting and wanted to help increase the odds a bit. Anyone with 1st season experience hear many/any bugles?

    Best Colorado rifle season

As this season of elk hunting is underway I wanted to see what everyone's opinion is about the 4 Colorado rifle seasons. Is 1st season the best if you can draw with minimal points (0-2 pts), save your points and hunt otc in 2nd or 3rd or draw the 4th season with the same minimal points (0-2...

    WY mule deer suggestions

Hello! Planning a fall rifle mule deer hunt into Wyoming with 3 other guys. They have 1pp a piece and I have 2pp. Having never hunted Wyoming I was wondering if there were any suggestions on the best units we could draw with these. If anyone has any suggestions or would like to PM me please do...

Mule deer hunting gmu 15 colorado

The four guys that went all tagged out on mule deer. Hunted 7 days and tagged mine on the 4th, It's a nice 150" class mule deer. Hunting was hard and one of our guys didn't see a buck until the last evening on the last day of the hunt. Overall, it was a really good hunt though!

Wyoming antelope and mule deer hunting

This will be my first trip to Wyoming and planning on going fall of 2019. The original plan was to go mule deer and antelope hunting together. I'll have two preference points for each and the other guys will only have one for each species. Any information on where to even start looking as far as...

    Eld-x bullets for elk?

My chronograph showed a muzzle velocity of 2850 fps with 74 gr Rl-19 and according to the ballistic calculator it's already down to 2700 fps at 100 yards, hopefully this helps. If I do my part the gun shoots great.

    Eld-x bullets for elk?

Heading to Colorado in a few weeks and I wanted to get everyones impression on using the Hornady eld-x bullets for elk. Shot them at range and they do a fantastic job, though I've heard both sides that they're a "no go" for elk and others say they're great. Loaded up the 230gr in the 338 win...

    338 win mag reloading information

I was very impressed with the 230gr eld-x today. Velocity was 2780 fps and it shot a .25 inch group twice off the lead sled. Now my issue is that when not in the lead sled it shoots 1.5 inches from sand bags. It was....odd to say the least. Always liked the lead sled for load developement but...

    338 win mag reloading information

That's what I'm trying to develope, something that will put down an elk at a variety of ranges. I really like the principle of the Barnes and weight retention, but you hear guys saying how at further distances when velocity drops below 2200 fps (350-400 yards) they can act like an fmj. I didn't...

    338 win mag reloading information

I also have a Savage model 116 and that's what I've been noticing. It always liked the Hornady 200gr sst's but from what I've read they aren't much good for elk. Running Max loads in the gun produces 2790 fps with the 225 gr accubond with 71.5 grs of imr-4350. 2775 fps with the 230gr eld-x with...

    338 win mag reloading information

Heading to Colorado this fall and starting to develop a load for my 338 win mag, always ran the 225 gr accubond; they've pounded black bear and mule deer, but started looking into the 210 gr Barnes ttsx and the 230gr Hornady eld-x, the accubond had acceptable accuracy but wasn't "great"...

Turkey hunting Nebraska: Pine Ridge Region

To conclude the trip: 4 of us hunted 5 days and killed 3 birds. They were henned up really bad, would gobble on the roost and into the first couple hours of morning but wouldn't even shock gobble in late morning/afternoon. We called in a few other birds but they snuck in quiet when we were blind...
