    What .cal

I like a 6.5 x55. Solid up through whitetails. Might kill an elk. 308 or 30-06 probably make more sense for the one gun guy.

    DIY paint on rifle stock

I have used the rustoleum gray/green camo paint. With the matte top coat it takes on a little olive tint. I really like it. I just wiped down the gun with acetone plugged any holes I didn't want paint in and painted the whole thing. Worked out well. Good luck.

    Glock

I think the wheelgun is a much better wilderness gun. A .357 or a .45 would be my personal choice because of the low power short cartridges that can also be used if wanted. So I like money unless I can turn the Glock into more money. However, Glocks are very good guns for the most part. In the...

    Kimber 84M

If you do get one that has difficulty feeding you want to check the mag spring to make sure the rear of the case is biased more than the front by the mag spring. Early 84m models had the left feed rail cut a little too far towards the rear of the action IME. Also check to see that the ejector...

    Kimber 84M

I have had a Montana in .308 since they first made them. Very accurate. I had to tweak the magazine spring some when I first got it but it feed well now. I would thhink the detachable mag would be even better. Its a great action. Mine is very accurate. The one is all I have had. I could get by...

    260 rem VS 6.5 creed

Creedmoor and 260 have the same head size. You can make Creedmoor brass from any brass that 260 can be made from including 260. While the 260 case is slightly longer the overall length of the case means bullets will need to be seated further into the case giving slight, if any, advantage to the...

    Rifle for Kids

You could look at Sportsman's warehouse for a Howa Kuiu and then sell the stock or cut it and use it. You can hollow out the but stock on some of the Boyd's models and get at least 6 oz.. Probably a good bit more. I only mention Sportsman's cause they have them at $399-419. Which is a pretty...

    Rifle for Kids

Used Tikka compact or the Howa Kuiu. You might find a Full sized Tikka a little easier (cheaper) and swap stocks.

    New Howa's

If you are looking for a Kuiu, Sportsman warehouse has them on sell now. Good luck, Ted

Building a new rifle verses buying

I have shot Remington for many years most have been very good. However, for a rifle I wasn't going to tinker with, I believe the Howa is a good bit better. Remington has so much aftermarket support partially because so much support is needed.
