    Burris FF E1 vs Nikon Prostaff P3 / P5

I currently have a Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x40 that I find very reliable and the clarity / image quality / light transmission seems to be very good. I don't have a ton of disposable income so $300 or less for optics is where I'm at. A few years ago I picked up a Nikon Prostaff 7s 10x42 bino that...

    .458 RCM wildcat?

The better question is who would want a rifle cartridge that launched a 300gr bullet at 2400fps for short range work? My guess is probably not many people because long range shooting seems to be the thing since the 6.5CM and RPRs hit the market. I just went through all my onX maps and did a...

    .458 RCM wildcat?

I got to thinking about a .458 wildcat built on an RCM case. After looking at the case dimensions it seems to me that necking up an RCM case to accept a .458 bullet would be possible. If a velocity of 2400fps could be attained that would give the rifle a MPBR of about 245yds when using the...

    Non-Lead Partnership

I made the switch to monolithic copper. I don't see any reason to expose my children to lead fragments. I know there are some folks, Nathan Foster one of them, that don't like monolithic bullets because as he says, they can be "slow killing". I've read his website extensively and it seems just...

    Good Attractant

Do the stuff made by Tinks work?

    Good Attractant

I’m trying to find a good attractant for whitetail deer in NY. I can’t use anything they can eat. It has to be all scent based. No licks or feed, etc. I’ve read about mashing acorns and making a spray with it and also using vanilla extract. Any other scents I could make that will work as an...

    .243 85gr TSX & .223 55-62gr TSX

I talked to him last year and he told me he could rebore to a .338Fed. I’m not sure I want to do that because the barrel is so skinny and every other reboring place wanted more thickness at the muzzle to prevent the barrel from being too thin.

    .243 85gr TSX & .223 55-62gr TSX

It’s a Ruger Hawkeye. I forgot about the E-Tip. If I can get 3000fps from this rifle I’ll probably stick with it. Thanks for the recipie input! Keep it coming!

    .243 85gr TSX & .223 55-62gr TSX

I can get it made and installed for just under $350. An ER Shaw, so nothing match grade, but definitely well made enough for hunting purposes.

    .243 85gr TSX & .223 55-62gr TSX

Is there a large terminal performance difference between the 55/62gr TTSX and the 80gr TTSX? Would I be better off putting a .308 barrel on this rifle so I’m not basically duplicating capabilities with two separate rifles?

    .243 85gr TSX & .223 55-62gr TSX

I have a 20in barrel .243 and I want to start reloading for it. I’m moving to all copper bullets and I’m not sure what kinds of load data I should look at. I put some Federal Power Shok copper over a chrono and was averaging 2820fps, which is a loss of 95fps per inch of barrel. I really like the...

    Pick a cartridge

Saw that when I was researching. Seems locals use run-of-the-mill cartridges and the big magnums are mostly carried by non-residents. Just what I've gathered from internet research.

    Pick a cartridge

I'm writing a story for fun. The main character moves to Alaska and during that process picks up a used Ruger Hawkeye in a gun shop. Which caliber should his Hawkeye be? .308 Win .338 Fed .358 Win

    Ruger M77 Hawkeye Compact?

I have an ultra light in .243 and really wish I had picked it up in 7mm-08. I don't think a 20 inch bbl can be beat. Good balance, not too long/heavy and still puts out good hunting ballistics.

    .338 Fed or .358 Win

I have an old crude Savage 110 in '06. It's big, clunky, built on a looong action, but it's a tank. I know I could thread a .308 barrel on the Hawkeye and handle most anything, but that's not what it would be about. If I took the plunge I'd want something different that not every Joe was using...

    .338 Fed or .358 Win

I’d be rebarreling a Ruger 77. How fast can a 358 spit a 180 out? Also, any advantage to loading pistol bullets in the .358 for cheap plinking?
