Question about Coues deer...UPDATE
I got a tag for the same dates. I expect little to no rut activity, but i am hunting basically the border. find a good glassing spot and sit tight. Don't move. These things are not like mule deer. they will be moving around all day. -

It also really depends on what part of the state you are hunting in. I do most of my hunting north of Phoenix and i have seen them all over. I have seen them in large groups with Mule deer and i have even seen them in a group running , from me after missing a shot, with Elk, Mule Deer and... -

wow! I am going to have to look into OK. Pretty cool picture of the buck in the boat. on a different note, I grew up in the west and have never thought about public lands, or cared for that matter. Always just taken public land for granted. just another reason to protect them and keep it public. -

dirtclod- I grew up in Elmirage. joined the Military and still work for uncle sam, so NM is the closest i can get to home. Very difficult to plan and dedicate the time to hunting elk in AZ when your in the Marines. but now its time to cash those points in!! i can't wait. -

The thing about Texas is i get all my tags free, i could travel but, its just cost prohibited. I will just have to ask everyone i run into to see if they will let me shoot some does or small bucks I grew up in AZ have done most of my hunting in AZ. In fact i have 15 Elk points. Waiting for... -

NM unit 36 and 37
I just got done with the Muzzleloader hunt in 37. Had a blast, saw elk everyday. Even had a chance to kill a decent bull. Instead i decided to shoot under it and leave it for you! I have spend a lot of time in 37 hunting both deer and elk. Let me know what you need and i can help. -
