I've honestly really liked it. It's not too expensive, but it is super nice!

    2017 Idaho Bull

I was shooting the 143 grain eldx as well. I was surprised that the bullet hadn't mushroomed as much as I was expecting, but I had one bullet past through, and one stay in him. There was definitely a good entrance wound though. Overall I was very impressed with it.

    2017 Idaho Bull

Yeah this was definitely a limited entry hunt. It was also in November, so the bulls are already starting to group up a little with a decent amount of snow in the high country. It was pretty awesome being able to take my pick out of the group! Glad to say I came out with the biggest of the bunch!

    2017 Idaho Bull

It is definitely a long shot with a 6.5 for elk. Honestly it was pushing it and I knew that. Had I not have had a good rest and a nice scope which I trusted, I would definitely not have taken the shot. I personally would agree that 400 should normally be the max for elk with a creedmoor.

    2017 Idaho Bull

Thanks, I appreciate it! I've got the Vortex Copperhead 4-12X44 on it. Yeah I would have taken a closer shot, but they were about ready to run out of the country already at 600 yards.

    2017 Idaho Bull

Well I got my 2017 Idaho late season bull last week! This was actually my first bull, so I'm pretty stoked about it! He was the largest in a group of 20 bulls. Took him at 600 with the trusty 6.5 creedmoor.

Idaho Late Season Elk Hunt Buddies

Long story short. I drew a good Eastern Idaho (units 58, 59, 59a) Late Season rifle Elk Tag (Nov1-Nov30), but am currently not in possession of a truck ( I know its a sin)! I have a couple buddies who will be tagging along with me for a weekend or two and allowing me to use their truck, but the...

    Question about locating elk

I also saw a herd of about 100 (with 20 bulls or so) at the end of October which still had a couple bulls which were actively bugling. The bulls ranged from spikes to a 320 6-point. Honestly if you're finding cows, the bulls (especially the smaller ones) won't be too far.

    Where ???

If you got a chance to hunt deer or elk in SW Utah, I would take it. Some amazing bucks and great bulls out that way. Just my two cents though. Never spent any time in NM.

Less Than 2 Months to Go!

Yeah I'm right there with you! Only thing is, my elk hunt is a late season rifle hunt in November, so I've got even longer to wait! :(

    Idaho Muley

I add my voice to everyone who says, screw the deer and find a killer bull. I know of multiple 400+ bulls that live out there.
