Talked to a G&F officer in the area and he said there is plenty out that way especialy with a ES/IM Tag for a youth. Every where I have been E-scouting and also a few of you have PMedme places to start that’s exactly where the officer said to look. Mesa’s are key to this unit.
My son was able to get a antelope youth tag for unit 57 for the Oct hunt. I know about all the state land in the area, I am looking for any good starting points for the area and any tips.
I was asking the OP's hunt of Ant-1-166 mobility impairment hunt. I have heard with those tags they can hunt anywhere in the Unit assigned, is that true? Just curious.
Unit 45 is my backyard, there is plenty of mule deer here. As far as theft and securing your truck I would take extra precautions. Park either at a trail head or where there is some traffic or make sure to not leave anything of value in sight unfortunalty low life's during hunting season has...
Good luck to you on your hunt. There is a lot of Antelope in the area best of the whole state. How does your hunt work? Are you assigned a ranch or can you go to any ranch or public lands in the units listed?
Got a Antelope tag for unit 47 at a ranch right next Kiowa national grasslands. I am beyond excited, it's my first Antelope tag after 5 years of trying.
I will most definitely post some pics. I went for a drive yesterday in unit 45 and saw a group of about 70 turkeys in one of my favorite spots. Spring turkey numbers are looking good.
Thanks I most certainly plan on going out and getting my 2 Toms. Getting my new turkey vest delivered tomorrow, picked up the new NWTF alps outdoorz grand slam turkey vest and some new David Halloran calls. Beyond excited for April 15.
Good luck in your hunt this year. The Santa Fe National forest in unit 45 is great back country. Lots deer, elk, turkey, bear, and lots of mountain lions. I am always looking for new hunting partners if you decide to hunt this area I can help out.
I am new to these forums but have tried to draw for VV and VC turkey hunts the last 4 years with no success. I hunted the Vermejo ranch for elk in the 90's and there is plenty of wildlife in that area. I will just have to be happy with my backyard of unit 45.
