I have both the OnX app and chip in my gps. I like the phone option because when I returned home the app uploads way points and data so it can be viewed on all other app devices such as the online and iPad. I'm sold on the app.
I bought the Winterial 3 person for my son and myself. Worked great and the extra room was nice. Only 4.4 lbs

Just a quick update as I tried some of the Paleo Meals To Go on a recent backpack trip and they we good, healthy and filling. Even my 16 yr old son said they were tasty.
I have seen many negative reviews on Mnt House not being good or causing upset stomach (squats). I know some are probably on the other side of that review and have no problems. I was going to get Wilderness Athlete recovery packets as well.
Yes, I have checked into water as I have talked to the local game biologist about the specific area I'm going into. They confirmed there should be water avialable as well as I have seen creeks on Google earth with Oct images. I'm using a Sawyer inline filter system.
I am preparing for my first scouting trip this summer as I am packing in to the back country for the first time in CO for OTC archery. Getting ready to order some Paleo Meals and Heather's Choice meals. These meals are around 500 cal which seems a bit low for all day hiking.
My question is do...
Thanks for all of the great input. I might look for one of the air combo pads to increase comfort and R value. I found a few on Campsaver, REI and CampMor that fits. Now I just need to compare some specs.
I'm planning my first back country hunting trip for 2017 and starting to accumulate gear.
I've been looking at sleeping pads and think the air mattress style would be better for me simply for comfort. However, I do see many of the TV show guys carry the Therm A Rest foam style pads. From what I...
I am planning for this years elk hunt into a new area here in CO. I have all of the online / computer resources for maps, google earth and topos.

Forest service? Nat Geo?
Also, I do have a CO...
I am just getting back into archery hunting after about 15 yrs. I have read through a few other posts on broad heads and i know there is huge debate over or fixed or expandable. Also, there is a ton of info on every broad head on the market which becomes confusing at some point....
I have...
I am planning a solo back country/ backpack trip in central CO (11,000 ft elevation) for archery DIY. Looking for a 0 degree bag and I do not like the traditional mummy bags as they are too confining for me. I'm 6'1 and 190 so kind of average size. I don't have the budget for a super high end...
I was reading through this older thread and it sounds as though you like the X2. I'm thinking of getting this coming year and my only question is do you think it is big enough for a 2-3 bivy trip. I can't afford a $400-500 pack and was hoping the X2 could do both bivy and day pack.
I just started elk hunting the last few years as my 15 yr old son has started to hunt. I have deer hunted in CA and the Midwest, but elk hunting is completely new to me as of 2 years ago. Also, I started bow hunting again and I am planning a DIY Elk archery hunt (and most likely 1st rifle) in...
