    Rings and bases

For durability and simplicity of install I usually use the formula of: 1) one-piece scope base bedded properly to the action to prevent tension/bending and retain "straightness" (bed one end of the rail, torque other end to spec, let cure, then install both screws to spec) 2) Pair of rings with...

    Family Vehicle

I would copy that on tahoe. The 99-06 gen were better than the current space wise at least. The only reason they seem to be everywhere is I guess nobody has more than two kids or ever hauls any gear around??? The turning radius is a bit better but quadrasteer on the 3/4 ton yuokn XL beats the...

    SWFA 3-15x42 FFP MIL/MIL Riflescope NEW/Unmounted

Thanks, hooper. They are nice scopes. If I get the bug again I'll probably end up buying another one haha...

    Family Vehicle

You guys... Unless you go suburban. This. Is. It. http://www.customautosbytim.com/40.html But in all reality, if you have financial sense and don't want a payment... We use a 2004 Yukon XL 2500 4wd with a 6.0 vortec. Bomber with excellent towing numbers, but terrible gas mileage. My wife's...

    We will take your truck.

Never had this problem, always get offers to take others truck. I just usually take mine the last bit of the way anyways since it is typically the only one capable of it where we have been going.

    Preparing for mid November

Make sure your truck is actually able to run chains on all four. Many (most?) modern trucks specifically state only to run them on the rear due to all the funny business they have up front now. Exception being some 3/4+ ton trucks with solid front axles. Chains, tow strap/chain, shovel, hand...

    SWFA 3-15x42 FFP MIL/MIL Riflescope NEW/Unmounted

Have a never mounted SWFA 3-15x42 with mil-quad reticle. MIL adjustments to match reticle (MIL/MIL). First focal plane (reticle MIL measurements are true at all magnifications). All specs can be found on SWFA here: https://www.swfa.com/swfa-ss-3-15x42-tactical-rifle-scope-3.html Asking $600...

BLM Considering 13,000 Acre Purchase in Blackfoot

Mixed opinions on TNC, depends on where you are and who you deal with I'm sure. I'd rather our tax dollars go to buying more land into the system than blowing it like they normally do. I'd love if there was a concerted effort to buy small tracts to gain access where private is blocking access to...

Colorado GMU 86 elk and deer

Estes is a hoot. Always frustrating to see so many elk and/or have to avoid getting in their way while flyfishing and then see notta during season! Tire chains was a good call. I can only run rears on the tacoma or my brother's f150, but they still made a massive difference.

Hunting with Partners - Who Get's the First Shot?

We split the meat, whoever hasn't shot one yet/before or has the energy to go chase after them haha. Everyone helps pack out.

    How far away?

Depends on the situation. I like hunting 3rd/4th rifle CO so I can take my time. We hunt with 4 guys. Area we hunt you can just pack the meat bags up or down to the main trail and leave them near there. Most any cow and we can very comfortably get out in one trip (hide, boned out meat) if we...

    Nallo 2 or Soulo

Watching. Out of curiosity do you have to deal with snow loading? I have neither but am interested in both, but can't quite get over the Nallo's slanted footbox. Can't imagine it sheds or supports snow as well as a dome/freestander? Don't want to wake up to wet feet touching the tent top.

WTB Hilleberg Allak or Kaitum 2/3

Would also be interested in a Kaitum 2 or 3 after some consideration... Was unsure if they could handle snow loads effectively but read some reviews and feel better about them.

WTB Hilleberg Allak or Kaitum 2/3

Just as the title says, looking for a used Allak or Kaitum 2 or 3, preferably not in obnoxious red. Thanks!

Colorado GMU 86 elk and deer

Check OnX property boundaries, USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps (restrictions, closures, dates, etc), and even google earth for access to those little roads. A lot of those little marked roads start on gated private property. I cannot vouch for 35/Mosher with ground verification, but it appeared...

Colorado GMU 86 elk and deer

Also, I imagine deer will be all over at that time (elevation wise). Some may still be high then but may depend on weather. Elk/deer may get split up pretty distinctly if you get a big snow high. Just speculation of course, like I said I've only hit August and November.

Colorado GMU 86 elk and deer

Steep. Much steeper than it appears on google earth 3D. Prepare you heart/lungs/legs. They will be high in 2nd season rifle I would imagine. No experience with 2nd season particularly but I scouted it during archery for 4th rifle. Expect heavy or moderate hunting pressure anywhere within an...

    Backpacking wood stoves

+1 for the Lite Outdoors stoves. I have an old version small stove and new version large(XL?) stove. Small/old one is fine, but the newer design is a bang up job. Better/faster stove body rods and bigger feeding door. I used quarter-split logs right before bed from ~10" diameter logs to increase...
