New Mexico Unit 51 or 52
I've hunted both units and prefer 51 over 52, just because it is a larger unit and less crowded compared to 52. I preferred the heavily wooded area versus the open flats and San Antonio mountain. -

Spotted elk up near Canjillon lakes when scouting early season; however we stayed in Tres Piedras and would hunt to west of the town south of 64. I will be using OnXMaps, which has been helpful in the past. There have been areas I have encountered with gates, but when you look on the maps, it's BLM or Forest Service areas. I will take your advice in to consideration and look for some water sources. Thanks -
