Montana Sheep, Moose, Goat drawing 2017

Thanks DIY. I only had a couple of points, but was fine using it on a ewe. Some people probably wouldn't, but hey I have never shot a Bighorn so I was fine with it. Besides I have horrible luck so I will probably never draw a ram tag in my lifetime haha.

WY License Fees Increase Effective 1/1/2018

I was just trying to get a point across of this is a hunting forum and not a political one where the same people constantly complain about the same issues. Montana has had some districts in the Bear Paws to name a few with a ration of 50 bulls to cows. Every state FWP has its issues including...

WY License Fees Increase Effective 1/1/2018

How isn't Buzz just going off on this? He seems to flip a lid if the Montana FWP breathes wrong, but with Wyoming hunters both resident and nonresident having to pay some of the highest license rates it's crickets and that's for OK opportunities on anything but antelope.

Digital Maps and Geospatial Data for Hunting

Thats a pretty good game plan you have. Yeah there is a free Avenza pdf app that also does what you you are doing with the usgs maps and MVUMs. I have loaded more systems with Falconview that i can count so it's pretty cool to see that you use that. Army pilots used to use it as well.

Digital Maps and Geospatial Data for Hunting

I see quite a few people ask questions about digital maps, apps, or gps maps and as a Geospatial Engineer I believe you can never have to much Geospatial data or programs. I use the OnxMaps App as well as the chip that I can transfer between my GPS and computer. Another overlooked item for your...

    Go Blue and Go Griz

It's almost that time of the year in a little over a month my 2 favorite college teams will be hitting the field. Being from Montana I naturally root for the Griz and I have been pretty lucky to have gone to a couple of Wolverine games at Kinnick Stadium and Happy Valley. Hopefully, this is the...

So for those of you in training for your Elk hunt, all going according to plan?

Living on the East Coast there isn't a lot of training you can do for the elevation, but I run 8 miles 4 times a week on the roughest terrain I can find which in this part of Maryland isn't much. I also hike with 50-60 pounds for 4-8 miles twice a week, but will be ramping that up in the next...

Retiring and moving back to Montana

I was born in Havre, MT and then decided to join the Army and the next thing I know it's been over 20 years and I figured it's time to retire in the Big Sky County. I will be retiring in the Bitterroot Valley and spend time with my family and enjoy the great outdoors until my wife decides I need...
