    New Gerber Knives

I got my first chance to use it last week on a little buck and didn’t have any issues. Cannot say enough about how much safer I felt swapping these blades compared to my old havalon.

What Bino harness are you running

I love my fhf. Paul’s a solid guy too. I had the first versions without molle attachment points on the bottom but wanted to carry my bear spray there. He added a panel for $30 that looks like it came that way.

Broad head vs bare shaft tune

Thanks, I was thinking some more on some of the other comments about drag differences and mass differences. Do you add any weight to the back if bareshaft tuning? My fletched arrows are helical blazers, which have a different drop when I was trying a couple different fletching options as well...

Broad head vs bare shaft tune

Thinking through the difference In drag makes sense that they could be higher farther out. They were always pretty close left to right, and really straight into the target. Sounds pretty good I guess! I’ve got the 22-25th of September off and CANT WAIT!

As an engineer, and to a fault, it is always time to tinker. ;)

Broad head vs bare shaft tune

Perfect, thanks everyone! https://www.gohunt.com/read/skills/archery-season-knocking-on-the-door-and-shooting-bareshafts this was the article I read that made me curious how close things were. It is nice to be nailing the cross of two strings at 10’ in the garage but I had never looked at bare...

Broad head vs bare shaft tune

Hey archery gurus, I had been dialed in with my field points and broadheads together our to 50 yards. Not splitting arrows, but within my capability at that distance (under 6 inches farthest apart. Then, because I saw an article on goHunt and had a couple bare shafts, I thought I’d shoot them at...

Knocking On Doors In the Year of C-19?

Curious to hear everyone’s response as well. Also curious to hear how they handle masks. For instance, would it be better to wear one initially or just knock and jump back 10 feet. I’ve been trying to find people’s phone numbers online but struck out a few times now.

    New Gerber Knives

Do you think the DTS would get through an entire elk processing the gutless method without resharpening? I’m terrible at sharpening freehand. That’s what led me to the replaceable blades in the first place. The EBS I can at least resharpen with my jig when I get home. Let me know what you think!

    New Gerber Knives

Trying the EBS first. I love having sharp blades and being able to change them easily between skinning and breaking down the meat, but I cannot make it through an entire animal without breaking one of my Havalon blades. This may be the best of all worlds here...

Broadhead tune or sight in first?

I’d move my rest first and see if that brings the arrows up as well. I had a similar tweak and the left to right fixed the up and down as well. I did walk back tuning to 70 yards and then have my broadbeads right with the field points to 50 yards (as far as I’ve tried with broad heads so far). I...

    New light weight sleeping bag??

X2 for Montbell. I bought mine in 09 and it’s still the most comfortable bag. That being said, I’ve switched to quilts when I switched to a hammock.

Selfbow from wind blown trees in Kalispell

Thanks. It was good practice so far. I can successfully split a 8” log into toothpicks. The split kept running off the sides and I was left with kindling. I’m planning now to try a board bow and keep my eyes out for any logs that would be good to keep trying. Persistence....... On the plus...

    Favorite Hunt Hack?

Someone mentioned not wanting to cut up their paracord so they use ties. Many years ago I had started cutting up my paracord ahead of time into 5’ and 10’ lengths. Then I can coil them as needed. If I need something to tie a quarter up or pull a leg to a tree close by, it’s ready to go. If you...

    Favorite Target (for practice)

I wish I had a permanent range but I have to run out so some public land to shoot. I have a Reinhardt 18-1 as my primary and love it. Field points, Broadheads, 55# recurve or 70# compound. It’s big enough to shoot multiple dots at 20 and usually at least hit the main bullseye at 60. I think this...

    Hunting day pack info request

Has anyone found a way to “slick” the gun bearer? My hogue stock really sticks in it, otherwise I could be to shoulder fast. I’m considering a safari sling to be able and get on target quicker, I just dislike the sling with a pack so much! I missed an elk last year because, by the time I had...

Least expensive thumb or hinge release

Thanks everyone. I picked up one of the rebranded units at Cabelas with the intent of trying it and returning it. I haven’t really noticed any improvement yet but there are things I like about it and things I don’t. I do feel that my anchor is more consistent, which was my biggest hope. I’ll...

Broadhead tune or sight in first?

I am getting my bow tuned in again, as well as setting up my 3 pin slider (ascent verdict). I’m assuming that I should get my bow as dialed in (Broadhead to field point) first, and then worry about the sight tape. I never realized my previous sights and bows I always got paper tuned with field...
