I don’t know anything about the outfitter but I like the area. The couple reviews I have read online seem pretty good. Split Rock Ranch / QRS outfitters. 10pts might draw the tag? If he’s ok spending money for the special maybe go that route? Did I read somewhere that Wyoming has a special...
Thanks for figuring it out. Looks like since I can’t go until at least 2023 no reason to buy a point this year or next. 2020 point money was a donation. Thanks!!
It’s really not that complicated .... if people understood that pref points and bonus points are completely different that would help ....
im sorry I had to ask my question. I read as much as possible and even watched the video. I’m just not a smart person. So the preference point I bought in...
So I bought a preference point last year (2020). My first. I have not bought one yet this year (2021). I know I can't go hunt next year. If I don't buy one this year but Buy one preference point next year (2022, which would give me two points). Does that mean I can apply in 2023 with two...
I filled up with diesel in Jeffrey City at the bar/cafe two years ago. I saw plenty of local diesel trucks filling up also while there. Look up the cafe and give them a call.
Both of y’all would benefit to watch Randy’s video of the Wyoming draw process. It explains it. I have no idea how to link something but google it to find the video.
It was an investment but I bought my daughter a TC encore with a .17 hmr barrel when she was young. It got her used to shooting the gun with a fun, inexpensive low recoil round. I bought a wooden "bantom" stock that I cut another inch off of. Once she was ready for deer I bought a bergara...
Wyoming or South Dakota? I am flying up my wife to Rapid City for a long weekend halfway through my three week SE Montana (deer) / Wyoming(antelope doe) hunt. Little does she know that will also be a scouting trip for a future SD blackhills deer hunt. Good luck on ya'll hunt.
I am headed to SE Montana in November for first deer hunt there. I have never shot a Merriams and it looks like Montana has a coinciding fall turkey season. Also looks like you can use a rifle? How realistic would it be to have a chance at getting a turkey on public in November? Thanks
Thanks for the reply’s. First trip to the area. Hunting solo and have two weeks to hunt. Just trying to figure out a game plan on where to look. Not much experience with mule deer.
I see that SE Montana has gotten some rain and snow the last couple days. I read the threads about this year’s drought changing up the deer hunting this year with deer moving to private where the green and water is. Is the moisture they just got going to change this at all? Or is it too...
We have a game cart that several people would use / share when they made western hunts. One trip to Nebraska we bent the wheels. I spent quite a bit upgrading the bearings/ rims and wheels to make it better. The next trip with it to NE Wyoming it was stolen from the tent during the day...
Mr Doug, I think I work with your grandson down here in Louisiana. The knowledge that 24 year old guy has shared with me is unbelievable. There is nothing we can talk about that he hasn’t done and isn’t an expert in. Really humbling for me.
You are one hell of a friend. I cashed in on my 8 points last year and had the “antelope hunt of my life”. Meaning at almost 50 years old I will never have enough points to draw that unit again. My advice would be for you to draw an awesome unit and y’all travel together and enjoy the hunt...
