    Idea for Youtube series

I get that but - I wouldn't know the difference between Gernium viscossium and a Geranium you buy at Walmart for Christmas. In my view, the point of the series would be to identify some common elk foods, maybe from the list/tables found in the Jack Ward Thomas book. For example, I'd bet not...

    Idea for Youtube series

Not sure if this is the right place but if not let me know and I'll move it. How about a Youtube series based on elk food during Sept to Nov? After buying and reading the Jack Ward Thomas book, I did searches in the various tables/lists of preferred foods. I wish i could have something other...

EOY - What Equipment Worked, What Didn't?

Had ALL of my stuff stolen in 2017 while headed to Montana for a rifle elk hunt - so I've spent the past year trying a bunch of new gear. I basically acquired a zero interest credit card with an 18 month grace period and bought/tried everything and anything I always wanted to try. With an...

NEWB Heading to CO GMU 12 1st Rifle

I've hunted GMU12 in first season. Very likely to be a zoo. A few trailheads exist in 12 and most will be packed with vehicles. I ran into people as far back in as 5 miles. My advice is to hunt at least half mile off trail, 1 mile better, and stay away from any meadow or opening in that...

Nosler Accubond 140 grain 7mm RM vs Pronghorn

My exact experience with the 140 Accubond out of my 7 WSM. I shot 2 deer at less than 100 yards. Neither bullet exited but damage was massive and gruesome. I literally cut the near shoulder off with my knife - nothing holding it on but skin. I quit using them in that gun. Changed to 160...

    Who here uses trekking poles?

I use them on most hunts involving a lot of hiking. Hiking to my WT tree stand doesn't require them but about everything else does. I find them very useful on both uphill and downhill. I'd also suggest buying a good set. I've been running Leki for a few years. The thing about Leki is the...

    2 gun do-all battery suggestions?

I've owned most of the cartridges you listed in the Kimber Montana configuration. Light rifles are a dream to carry in the mountains and can be shot effectively from field positions. My only caution is to think about recoil of the bigger offerings in the Montana rifle. I bought one of the...

I just joined a few days ago but have been to this website numerous times in the past. Been following Randy and OYOA since it started - love the show. I looked over alot of these threads and am impressed with the info shared by everyone - very cool. I put together a DIY elk hunt every year...

.300 Wby Mag Loads for Elk

Partitions - either 180 or 200. I use 180's in my WSM and have used them in various won mags, and a saum. They work great.

    Elk Bullets

Nosler, preferably Partitions but did kill 2 with Accubonds from my 30 SAUM. Pretty hard to beat Partitions for about any application.
