Maybe its just me, but MT has the most complicated process to understand. We applied as a group for general elk . Is this saying we drew the combo general but did not draw an LE as we did not put in for one? I think we had an average somewhere between 1 & 2 pnts for the 4 of us.

what an adventure, what a bull... these are the types of stories that make all the negative media, politics and other BS seem to just fade away. Thank you for sharing Randy!
I've never bowhunted in Grizzly country, I will at some point. Great read, but dang that stay will continue to remind me that I need to be mentally prepared for when I do make the venture
Good luck to all, I have a unit 51 first rifle tag as well. Its my first time in the unit, I have hunted 52 a couple of times including getting my first bull with a MZ there in 2014. I won't get a chance to scout, so will do it Big Fin style with cyberscouting, try to target 10 different spots...
Drive it, talk 1 or 2 people into going with you. Makes all the logistics easier, plus if you get an elk, you can get it back with minimal concerns.
I drove it from NC when I lived there. Get some audiobooks, makes the trip go by twice as fast.
I think this is a perfect DIY hunt. I went DIY in 2013 same unit, great hunt, was into the elk most days of the 8 days I hunted. Saw a couple of monsters, but there are a lot of good bulls that an archery hunter should be proud to take. I took the family to Sedona and Grand Canyon in August...
Great write up and appreciate you opening up your journey to all of us. Until one does it, no one can appreciate hiking in alone to a wilderness area for a solo hunt in the Rockies. I started a similar journey in the last few years. It has tested me in ways I have never imagined and really...
Nice write up! I just finished 8 days hunting 52 as well for the 2nd archery hunt with my brother last week. The place absolutely cleared out of people Sun-Tues prior to the storms. We covered 80+ miles on foot over 8 days. It was hot and the bulls were pretty quiet except for when we were 2...
Big Fin, thank you for doing this, I find it incredibly informative and valuable. It is such a great way to spend my commute to better educate me on key topics impacting public land hunting. Let us know how we can best support the podcast so that it continues.
The remaining EE left in your subscription will be added to the remaining EH magazines you have remaining. So if you have 3 left of both, you will now get the next six EH.
At least that is what they said in an email blast yesterday.
Its a good pack. Bought one in 2011 including the spike camp bag. I've used it 4 times as a full pack and 6-8 times as a day pack. No complaints. I took it on Colorado wilderness hunt for 6 days with 85lbs. It worked flawlessly. I upgraded to a Kifaru last fall. The Kifaru is a better...
