I grew up experiencing public lands from a easterner's perspective. The wild for me was farm land, and parks in Northeastern Ohio. We would have adventures in western PA's Allegheny Mountains, but mostly Ohio reservoirs that were earmarked for the public water supply. After a number of years living out west, I found a passion for the expanse of wild lands. Now I live in Texas and although limited in comparison, we have some of the most unique backcountry there is. I'm beginning to appreciate the complex history of public land in Texas and will do my damnedest to support them.
I do a yearly out-of-state hunt. Mostly OTC Elk in Colorado, that is until I finally win a draw—One of these days.
I support BHA & TRCP because here's nothing better than seeing a distant peak, and then going there.
