Thanks for the info. I'm certain we were seeing a good number of sage grouse. The smaller birds were likely ruffed grouse after going a little research.- rbaca10

Public Roads?
I've been lucky that most have been marked correctly. I don't doubt some landowners/outfitters marking them out of spite but figure my time is better spent finding a plan B than relying solely on one road for my hunt. -

Wyoming Fish and Game website has some good info, particularly previous years draw results. Motel or Camp
All depends on weather and location of nearest town. I prefer to camp but i'll be checking into a motel if its 20° and wet weather. Also, it is tough to beat walking from your cap into the basin to kill a goat and packing him back in. I would also lean towards camping if the nearest motel was... -

Pronghorn Boots
You'll likely be fine with upland leather boots. I used some Danner Vitals and thought they were great.... other than getting soaked day 1 in wet snow. I ended up killing on day 2 in pull on leather work boots that were dry! -

Arriving Late for Antelope Hunt?
Don't think it'll hurt.... there are plenty of good goats out there and you may have to work a little harder to find that special trophy. I actually prefer the second week because hunting pressure seems to be lighter. -

Pronghorn hunting clothing question???
In mid October, highs are generally in the low 60s and lows in the lower 30s. Being from Texas, I packed enough for 15° just in case the weather took a turn - coveralls were nice to have at camp. I pretty much wore a baselayer and carhart pant all week and layered with baselayer and fleece on... -

Gloves
I've tried the mechanic gloves but recommend deer skin leather work gloves that you can get at any hardware store. Seem to be a bit more thorn proof but you will loose a little dexterity. I usually pull off my gloves to shoot anyway. I didn't bring knee pads but wished i did... just make sure... -

DIY Mule Deer
There are a few in Colorado that are near 50% odds with zero points. I imagine they will require you to put the miles on to get away from other hunters but there is always a chance of a great buck in any unit -
