Question for you ND fellas
I also hunted North Dak while stationed there 85-89 (Minot). Never deer hunted just geese, grouse, duck, pheasant, and also fished a lot. Great place if you love the outdoors. -

south rainier/packwood elk
I make the turn I believe at Ashford or just before it going south on Hwy 7. I turn to go towards Morton. About 5-6 miles down on the east/left side of the road. Beautiful hunting area, but no elk that I've seen. -

any luck in the skookumchuck unit in wa.
I've scouted the eastside of that unit and havent seen any elk there. I'd go with Packwood which isnt far away. -

I have deer hunted Stormking for several years and have yet to see an elk or elk sign. Struck me as rather odd, as it looks like prime elk habitat. I'm sure they in there, but not in my deer areas. -

Favorite GPS and why?
Buy a Garmin Rino 120 or 130 model. GPS and two way radio. If you hunting bud has one it will also show you his location, u can track, mark locations its sweet. I got one and recommend it.- NW Hunter
