Great spot and stalk to 27 yards

Agreed. No way I pass on that bull even with a broken second.

    Idaho activity

Got a tag for both as well as wolf in my pocket at all times. I've sat on this spot a few times so far this season and no activity. I heard this weekend another Elk hunter shot a lion less than a mile for the spot. Don't know if it's the same one or not, but it's one less to worry about anyway.

    Idaho activity

Slow since the opener. As of Friday night the bulls were not with the cows yet in the area I hunt. Hoping the cool, wet weather from the rest of the weekend helps things pickup. Seeing lots of signs and hearing some cows with a rare bugle, but nothing serious yet. I have some competition in...

    What Would You Do?

Early during the archery Elk season last year I was hiking around looking for new Elk spots. I came across this awesome bench. It had green grass, a small water hole and a marshy area in it. The terrain was steep dropping into and out of the spot. I could see Elk sign everywhere. I quickly...

    Cameron Hanes

I admire his dedication and skill, but I've grown tired of his obsession with himself over the years. It's gone way over the top and turned into an annoyance. I used to enjoy watching him on outdoors programs, but now can't stand watching him because he is so full of himself.

What Ya Changing Up This Year

Adding a new spot that I found during the archery season last year. It's not far from my other spots so it will be good to give it a try. Should be a good spot to sit on after work and it's fairly easy to get to. Other than that, I plan on filling my freezer with an Elk this year instead of a...

    Leg Cramps

Thanks for all of the feedback. After doing some research and speaking with my doctor it seems that part of my problem is the high blood pressure I'm on. Since I have high blood pressure I don't use salt very much at all. Combine the lack of salt with the medicine and there it is. I'm going...

    Hey Idaho

I've been on Hunt Talk for a few years, but haven't been active for a while. I live in SE Idaho north of Idaho Falls. I grew up in a small town in Kansas then moved to Chicago when I was 23 for work. Most recently I moved to Idaho in the summer of 2009. Growing up Kansas wasn't the deer...

    SE Idaho

I've been hunting the Island Park Zone, Unit 61 for the past seven seasons during archery. I know the area very well and start my scouting around July. Each year I branch out a little further than I did the past year. Usually though I end up back at my old trusty spots. I hunt public land on...

    Leg Cramps

I spend a lot of time archery hunting for Elk and hike several miles most days. I stay hydrated, but occasionally get bad leg cramps at night while I'm sleeping. I've heard all of the folk remedies like pickle juice, mustard, vitamin B12, but have only tried the B12 and it doesn't seem to work...

    Getting shot at...

Turn him in. Violates basic gun safety.

    Idaho Moose Hunt Success

I measured him up this morning when i had to submit my harvest report to IFG and he was 44.5" wide. Average in previous years for this unit was 35". I'm happy with it plus he's pretty cool looking. He'll look good hanging on the wall of our bar.

    ID F&G Survey

He is a tool. I had the opportunity to listen to him speak about a proposed law that impacted cities and counties. Instead of understanding the impact of his proposal on cities and counties he told us to learn how to deal with less and went into some story about selling a sheep ranch for less...

    Idaho Moose Hunt Success

I've hunted 40 days since August 30th when the archery season started. In September I was chasing Elk and Moose and since the start of October I've been working on filling my Moose tag. At the nudging of a friend of mine I decided to take the whole day off yesterday instead of just going out...
