    Windplex

Seems like the windplex is a hit. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Got a vx3i 3.5-10x40 on order.

    Windplex

Whats everyone's experience with Leupold's windplex reticle? Is it useful or just excess clutter? My understanding is that the measurements are 10 moa left and right, you'd have to have the scope on the highest power for the subtensions to be accurate, is that correct?

    Minox 50mm spotter

I like it for the price, though its to first spotter I've used so nothing to compare it to. Build seems good, rubber armored. I've enjoyed using it, small and handy and easy to throw in a day pack. I upgraded from dimondback binos to a pair of Meoptas and found that I like the wider field of...

    Minox 50mm spotter

Minox 50mm angled spotter for sale. Comes with neoprene case and box. Used a handful of times, just realized I like using binos on the tripod better. 180 OBO. I'll cover shipping.

    Rings n Things

Those Leupold aluminum one piece Backcountry rings do look nice, and if they made them for the rifle I'd probably go that route.

Thanks for the info, sounds like Talley LWs get the nod.

    Rings n Things

I recently picked up a Sako a7 roughtech and am on the search for rings. Planning on putting on a Leopold vx3i 3.5-10 x 40 on the rifle. It is drilled in the same pattern as the a-bolt and comes with 2 piece aluminum picatinny bases, Sako recommended replacing the bases with steel bases when I...

    ....not this again

Thanks Ben. Figured I'd ask about rings in this thread too. The Sako comes with 2 piece aluminum picatinny bases, however they recommend replacing them with steel for "high-powered cartridges"...not sure the point of including them. It seems like Talley lightweights have a big following, I'm...

    Sako A7 Big Game/Roughtech pro - impressions?

I just picked one of these up today, obviously haven't had a chance to shoot it or take it to the field. I compared the weight of the A7 to a Tikka superlight at sportsmans, honestly the weight difference wasn't that noticeable. I currently shoot a Tikka and IMO there is a noticeable improvement...

Thanks for all the info, thought I'd update this thread. Sportsman's had Sako A7 roughtechs (Stainless fluted with what looks like a bell and carlson stock) on sale for $699, $50 less than the Tikka superlights. Seemed like a good upgrade, especially since it seems the Tikka SLs aren't...

    ....not this again

Wow, lots to read over here, thanks for the input everyone. My takeaway: everyones got a favorite and it comes down to more of an personal preference than anything. Mentions of the .270 have me looking at that cartridge, admitaddly I skipped over it early on, seriously considering going that...

In regards to the scope, mostly wondering if it is worth it for the the zero lock on the vx5. I'll take a look at the 2.5x8 as well

    ....not this again

Thanks Lawnboy, I'm curious why you'd pick the 7mm over the 30-06.

    ....not this again

Thanks for all the replies. Wllm1313, this would be my one rifle, offloading my current 30-06 to a friend to help fund the purchase. I guess I was mostly looking at something different but its hard to argue with the affordability of the 30-06 ammunition compared to the 7mm and less recoil in a...
