I've been listening to Wake Up Wyoming out of Casper and they've been mentioning it for a few days now. Does anyone know of any Sheridan/Cody/Gillette shows like that that are able to be listened to over the net? Trying to get a feel for what's going on. Thanks.
I wasn't sure about living *in* Cody - Powell's only 25 min away though. I would think the tourist traffic in the summer could be problematic in Cody and might not be an issue out near the sugar beet farm area in Powell. Just my first impressions after seeing them.
We've spent at least 2-3 days in each. Probably the most in Casper. Billings and Rapid City are close enough if we need bigger medical, IMHO. We visited Green River/Rock Springs, Pinedale, and Lander on one of our reconnisince trips. When we visited Powell we stayed in Cody while checking out...
Well that's part of the problem. Each town has something that we liked and each had medical close by (always a consideration when you're older). For the pluses, Casper has great fishing, Powell has easy access to Yellowstone, Sheridan is right next to the Bighorns, and Gillette has fishing...
I'm 62 and working remote right now. Plan to be retired at 65. I like to hike and ride my bicycle, which I don't do very much here in FL. I'm doing 3.5 miles on a treadmill 4-6 times a week to keep my cardio up until I move someplace where I can go hiking/biking/hunting/etc. I've hunted elk and...
Yeah, I saw that. I also saw that it's going to be in the high 30's next week. It goes with the territory - I lived over by the Pawnee Buttes in CO so windy and cold isn't going to scare us off (I will however, make sure that a new house has a wood stove in case the power goes out... :-) ).
Hey all,
My wife and I are planning to move to WY soon and are considering 4 towns - Casper, Gillette, Powell, and Sheridan. I'm a bit concerned about the lack of public land close to Gillette and to a lesser extent Casper. Could someone comment on the likelihood of being able to hunt every...
There are a bajillion restaurants on Powers Road including a place called "HuHot" where it's all you can eat and you gather the ingredients that they then cook on a huge Mongolian grill. Lots of food and they have recipe suggestions on cards near the beginning of the line to put your food...
If you have time for a road trip, driving 24 from the Springs to Buena Vista and then up to Independence Pass (on Highway 82), back to 24 to 70 to 25 and back to the Springs is a pretty drive. I've seen bighorn sheep in the section between Buena Vista and the turn off to Independence Pass...
