Thanks for posting that link! Looks like all the hunts I applied for are status quo, better than reductions.
Selfishly I wish the deadline was later also. Find out NM results before having to submit CO. But yeah, giving tag numbers before the app deadline seems logical.
The reason I heard that is was Thursday last year instead of it's normal Wednesday was because the deadline to apply got pushed back 1 day due to system issues so that delayed the process to provide results by one day. No clue if that's true, but makes sense. If true, they should go back to...
Point well taken, I can still hunt elk and Oryx in the state. However Bighorn Ram is OIL in NM and I know I would feel the same way if I ever get that tag. I do understand the difficulty if a situation arises where you can't go or don't harvest for some reason. That's why the OIL till harvest...
A lot of hunting regulations have nothing to do with science, it's about custom satisfaction/social and revenue to fund the department and protect the wildlife. Are we really saying making MSG OIL is contradicting the science? Really? A hunt that most DIY hunters will never get to draw. Yes...
Seriously doubt it. The pattern is holding true of the past few years, should be next Wed unless there is some kind of hiccup or they just decide to switch it up for some reason.
Haha, I've got some experience in that arena myself. I don't assume anything on how they run it based on past experience. The fact that they have to take down the OIL status and harvest reports before they run the draw, tells me that they have the website/app connected to the live draw database.
Delete app link is gone, OIL status and 2024 harvest reports are unavailable. All signs that the draw is happening today and results posted by next Wednesday.
One issue is that they haven't even set the quotas yet for Elk, Deer, Pronghorn or Moose in CO. May 1, 2 commission meeting they finalize the quotas. So about a 20-25 day turnaround after that. If you look at the Sheep and Goat draw, they turn that around in 2 weeks from the deadline. So not...

Looks like more deer tag reductions.
Makes sense. Some of the YoY trends just look kind of wonky, but maybe they're accurate based on weather or other factors. Either way, hope I picked a decent unit and point creep/lower NR quota won't bite me. :)
Barbary can be a very tough hunt, hard to find sometimes, but the challenge of it makes the hunt exciting! And I have to disagree, I've had no meat any better than Barbary! A young Ram or Ewe are amazing. Rams can be chewy, but flavor is great.
NM resident. In for everything except Javelina, I do those on the OTC hunt. Yes, resident odds are way better than NR, but I'm on a 2 year all RED streak, so still can be tough to draw. Hope my luck changes this year.
