Hey Everyone

Starting to look into this years application draw and where I would like to hunt in New Mexico this year. The last 3 yrs I've been drawn to hunt in the northern part of NM. Last year I was in the Sante Fe NF. I'm wanting to try and hopefully get drawn for a southern unit or western unit. I always put in for a Gila unit but haven't been drawn yet. Outside of the Gila units, anyone have any suggestions into other good units for Mule Deer? I only apply for bow or muzzleloader because it increases my draw odds and I've been drawn for some species hunt in NM the last 4 yrs.

Also, I am an out of state applicant going without a guide.

Thanks everyone

I haven't been there in a number of years, but look at the Sacramento Mountains above Alamogordo. There used to be excellent hunting there, and I would suspect that it still is. I had lots of good muzzle loader hunts there in early September.

If you didnt draw the leftover unit 24 coues archery tag would be a good choice. Great unit for coues.
