Kimber Mountain ascent optics recommendations

Hey guys and gals. I was lucky enough to join BHA as a life member and received a Kimber Mountain Ascent 308. I need optics, but am on a budget. Planning for my first elk hunt in 2019, I want something quality, but won't break the bank. Any ideas?

zeiss conquest hd5 3 to 15X, with 600 Z Plex, they are being phased out and can be found for under 700 bucks
 
I looked into something similar when I purchased a Kimber Hunter. Almost purchased the Leupold VX2 ultralight, but ultimately purchased a VX3 (only slightly heavier) but better optics quality and more options. I have used hte scope for two hard seasons (backpacking and a hard fall where it bounced off a boulder) and I have been really happy. It has held zero and the clarity is more than sufficient.
