Nine Below this morning. Waited till the sun burned a tiny bit and sweatered 'em up.

Got on some runners immediately. Public land roosters that are still alive are PhD birds now. The runner they were on here lifted off at about 75 yards distant.

Pair of hens in that buffaloberry - and that was it for the day.

And so it ends. You waterfowlers have a couple more weeks. No competition from me. Neither me nor my dogs are much for sitting and waiting for birds to fall out of the sky, so we're done.
Only eight months to go...............

I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow when I’m chukar hunting. Yes, roosters at this point in the season are very well earned.

Many a year at the end of day on January 1'st I've wished Hun season lasted longer in MT, as it does in OR and ID. Not so this year, as in my experience, they are largely gone all across the state.
Chukars are on my post semi-retirement list.
Besides, I'll be entering data ad nauseum from tomorrow into the forseeable future:D. Much more fun than chasing a dog downhill 1500'.......
