Hey Guys - I just received a flyer for this event in the mail today. By title, it sounds like an interesting event, but when I opened it up I see that Jason Chaffetz is the Saturday night keynote speaker. Did I miss something? Did he have a radical change of heart after retiring from congress? Isn't that like inviting Osama Bin Laden to an anti-terror rally?

I'll probably stick to the BHA Rendezvous... but this really had me scratching my head!

Nobody has been more critical of WHCE than I have on other Utah-based forums... to the point of receiving calls from SFW trying to silence me. But I will say this, it is the best show out there. They put on a great event.

No. You didn't miss anything. You non Utah guys need to remember the major source of funding for $fw are the tags. The tags come via a decade plus long contract with DWR. The director, as well as Wildlife Board are Govenor appointed. Myself and others believe Chaffetz is setting up a run for governor, so of course $fw will "befriend" him. They know where the welfare comes from. They also hauled Mitt Romney around to local events.

To be fair BHA got a few nasty emails from me wanting an explanation as to why they would have a booth at the expo with $fw openly supporting folks who support transfer. Their answer was similar to Grizz, it is a big show, they wanted exposure.

Nothings changed in Utah, but after the public beat down of Chaffetz the grabbers are more PR Davy.

I mentioned this in another thread. I was going to go this year specifically for a chance to draw a tag. I saw Chaffetz was speaking, and withdrew an application I had already filled out and got a refund. Won't be going. They just can't help themselves.
