The Preferred Puffy

Puffy pants are great

Unless caused by eating Mountain House three nights in a row - chili mac, spag, sweet/sour pork..................

Maybe Sitka/Kuiu/Firstlite need to come out with Gore-Tex underwear? A name play on Sitka's "Cloudburst" line may be in the works....

I have a pair of Kelvin Lite bottoms that I love. Just the right amount of warmth for some really cold weather glassing and they pack down pretty decent. I don't bring them on a ton of trips but late season sheep they get the call for sure.

I got a pair of military surplus ECWCS Gen 3 Level 7 puffy pants. They are full zip primaloft pants similar to the sitka pants, the military ones are a little heavier, but not much. I paid 25 bucks for mine and they are crazy warm.

I have both the pants and jacket made by kuiu. Like them but you have to be careful because they aren't built for direct contact with you back pack hiking. Not saying I have had an issue but that's what they have told me... Very Warm! What ever you go with make sure it has a hood.
