My daughter’s first year hunting overshadowed a great year I had myself...as it should. She tagged a nice spot’n stalk general season buck in October to kickstart the year.

Last weekend she tagged her first ever elk with invaluable help from my buddy and his dad. It was crazy sprint at last light to get within range but she calmed down and made a great shot.

Both animals required a 300 yard stalk to get within 250 yards. She shot them both with my 30-06 and reloaded ammo. Really impressed with the 165gr Barnes TTSX performance on both of her animals and a big bodied bull I shot as well. That’s enough gun hunting though. Time to get back to bow hunting!!!

Dang, heck yeah! Congrats to you and your daughter ..heck of some memories you made there.

We had a great year filling 4 out of 4 tags. 2 general season bucks (mine was archery) and two controlled big bull tags. Both of hers were first time kills. They’re all cleaned up and ready for the wall now.
