I cut some fresh tracks a couple weeks ago, but wondering if guys that have been out have still been seeing any bears? Mostly wondering about the black bears. Thanks

I saw a small black bear on Saturday afternoon. He was probably around 100-125lb bear.

Grizzlies are definitely out, I cut fresh tracks in the snow yesterday in the Yaak and a guy got hammered by one north of Kalispell on Sunday. I have not seen any Black bear tracks in several weeks.

I wonder how early black bears go into hibernation. Im curious if it’s someone snow dependent or not. Their hibernation is super fascinating to me, you don’t hear or see too much info about it.
