Now that school has started and it’s officially hunting season I probably won’t go fishing until the water is hard. I thought I’d share a few pictures of walleye and trout from this summer.

Love those walters in the first pic! Lakers are a blast, great pics!

Thanks, Nice pics that bring back memories.

As a kid growing up in Grand Marais in the mid 70's - I spent many good days in that country.
Fishing the likes of Poplar, Loon, and McFarland, and many lesser knowns with my dad. Caught nice smallies canoeing up the Brule.
Learned to hunt ruffies around Kimball Lake. Smelting.............
Would like to get back up there sometime.
Probably some of my old school buds still in that country. Cook County people (at least used to be) are a little "insular":D.....................
My girlfriend, who the day after this pic, to whom I got engaged to on top of Eagle Mtn. Slab bluegills from a "secret" little lake near Two Island. Like the 1983 shades......
Minnesotans have a public lands gem in the Gunflint, BWCA, and Superior Nat'l Forest.

Fantastic, great family pictures you'll treasure. We only got to the BWCA once this summer and didn't time the walleye bite very well. Really love the dark colors you get in those waters!! Good luck this winter

onpoint- Interesting stuff. I graduated from high school in Grand Marais in the early 90’s. Being back in the community after a 20+ year absence has been strange. Grand Marais has changed a lot, some good changes and some not so good. I’ve lived some neat places, including Alaska. All of the deep clear lakes in this area are really special.

Love the Northwoods summer fishing pictures. You guys have a real slice of heaven up there. Do you hunt at all in the Boundary Waters?
I shot a moose in the Boundary Waters in 2006 when MN still had a moose season (62.5” spread). We’re still doing studies trying to figure out why the moose population crashed. I think somethings eating them, probably rabbits. I’ve never bothered deer hunting in the BW. There are a few pockets of deer but overall there are very few deer/square mile in the park. A bear hunt would be fun and very challenging.

I grew up seeing big bull moose in NE MN in the 70's. Moved to MT in the 80's and was shocked at how small the Shiras Bulls were. I have since seen many MT bull moose and even a few dandies.
But none like the Gunflint area Canada moose of my youth. Probably why to this day, I have never felt like applying for an MT moose tag.........
"Back then" whitetails were pretty abundant within the first few miles in shore from Superior. But I believe there were as many orange clad warriors in the woods as deer....
