Could be your browser. I find that sometimes happens esp. with FireFox. Or maybe a server along the way. Happened to me awhile back when using eBay.
You may have set your OS to not accept cookies, or as I found out early in my iPad usage I was inadvertently browsing in private/incognito mode, which forces you to sign in to every site.
