My wife and I are planning to hike to the Harney Peak fire tower in late September. What kind of conditioning is required? We want to come in from the north trail, which is more challenging, according to my research. We are East River flatlanders and don't want to run out of steam half way up the trail. Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice.

I did that hike 6 or 7 years ago. I don't recall it being very difficult. I did see 2 pine martens (likely the same one twice) which surprised me. Pretty cool place and well worth the effort.

No special training necessary just remember to bring water, snacks, and a camera for the views from on top.
